Accountant

Full-Time, Exempt Employee

The Haven is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Accountant to join our team and help strengthen the financial operations that support our mission. 

The Haven empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence through trauma-informed advocacy, comprehensive support services, and community-based prevention efforts, helping individuals and families achieve safety, independence, and lives free from violence. 

This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to use their financial expertise in a meaningful nonprofit environment. The Accountant will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting grant compliance, strengthening internal controls, and providing reliable financial information to organizational leadership. 


What You'll Do 

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Accountant will manage key day-to-day and month-end accounting functions, including: 

  • Maintaining the general ledger and preparing journal entries  
  • Processing and recording accounts payable and accounts receivable  
  • Processing payroll and reconciling payroll-related accounts  
  • Completing monthly bank, credit card, payroll, grant, and general ledger reconciliations  
  • Managing month-end close and investigating accounting discrepancies  
  • Preparing monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports  
  • Tracking grant revenues and expenditures and maintaining appropriate cost allocations  
  • Preparing financial documentation and schedules for grant reporting  
  • Monitoring grant spending, funding restrictions, and allowable costs  
  • Maintaining strong accounting procedures and internal controls  
  • Preparing schedules and documentation for the annual audit  
  • Assisting leadership with annual budgeting and financial analysis  
  • Supporting tax, payroll, year-end, and regulatory reporting requirements  


What We're Looking For 

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting skills with accuracy, sound judgment, organization, and a commitment to responsible stewardship. 


Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered  
  • Two or more years of accounting experience preferred  
  • Nonprofit accounting and grant management experience strongly preferred  
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, grant tracking, and cost allocation preferred  
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices  
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel  

Medical Advocate (Part-Time)

The Haven is hiring compassionate and dedicated Medical Advocate to provide trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.


Medical Advocates respond to hospital calls, provide crisis intervention, assist with safety planning, support survivors through medical and legal processes, and collaborate with healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and community partners. This position plays a vital role in ensuring survivors receive immediate support, advocacy, and access to critical resources.


Qualifications:
• Experience or training in victim advocacy, social services, counseling, or related fields preferred
• Strong communication and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
• Commitment to survivor-centered and trauma-informed care


Ideal Candidates Will Have:
• Experience working with survivors of sexual or domestic violence
• Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations
• A passion for helping survivors heal and access services

Community Education & Prevention Director

The Haven is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Education & Prevention Director to lead violence prevention, community education, and professional training initiatives throughout our service area.


This leadership position develops and oversees programs that promote healthy relationships, consent education, bystander intervention, and violence prevention while building strong partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders. The Director will facilitate trainings, supervise prevention staff, evaluate program outcomes, and help expand The Haven’s impact through community engagement and education.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• Experience in prevention programming, community education, victim services, public health, or related field
• Strong presentation, leadership, and partnership-building skills
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and survivor-centered practices
